The gateway to skiing in British Columbia, Vancouver is a vibrant city on the water that is not to be missed on your trip to Canada.
With several surrounding mountains within a two-hour drive, the charming city of Vancouver is the gateway to popular resorts including Whistler, Sun Peaks and Big White and a favourite hangout of ours on the way to or from the mountains. Nestled between the ocean and the mountains, Vancouver is very much a hub for anyone wanting to explore the great Canadian outdoors and as such, Vancouverites seem to spend as much time outside, kayaking rivers and scaling mountains, as they do topping the charts for the happiest urban residents in the world.
From fresh outdoor markets to all you can eat sushi and fine dining establishments Vancouver’s foodie scene is booming. One of our favourite spots for lunch is Granville Island. Make the journey across False Creek and you’ll be well-rewarded for your efforts. The centrepiece of the island is the Public Market where you can peruse the artisan food stalls before polishing off a delectable lunch overlooking False Creek and the city beyond.
