Les Deux Alpes ski resort offers fantastic, high-altitude glacier skiing. Go skiing in Les Deux Alpes to enjoy the bustling town with a great choice of eateries.
Les Deux Alpes, often simply written as Les 2 Alpes, is a large buzzing village offering some fantastic cruisy glacier skiing. The ski area rises up to an impressive 3,600m, and is largely on Les Deux Alpes’ glacier, the second largest glacier in France behind Chamonix, allowing virtually year-round skiing. There is also a big, lively and relatively young après ski scene, much of it centred on Venosc, at the southern end of the town.
There is 229km of pistes to explore in Les Deux Alpes. There is something for all levels in this ski resort. If you’re a freestyle skier or snowboarder there is a terrain park with kickers and a half-pipe to test your best tricks on. The off-piste skiing opportunities are fantastic too. The La Fée sector and the Chalance off-piste routes are the main places to find great powder skiing on a snow day.
The village stretches for almost 2km along a sunny valley. There is plenty of accommodation options for different price ranges. On top of this, there is a great choice of bars, restaurants and clubs. Les Deux Alpes is one of the liveliest ski resorts in the Alps.
There are plenty of airport options to travel to the ski resort. Grenoble has an hour and a half transfer time, which is ideal if you want to maximise your time on the slopes. Alternatively, you can fly to Chambery with a slightly longer transfer time of two hours and thirty minutes.

The skiing in Les Deux Alpes is great for beginners and intermediates with very wide, cruisey blues towards the top of the mountain. More advanced skiers will enjoy the more challenging terrain towards the lower half of the mountain or can choose to hire a guide to tackle some of the incredible freeride runs off the shoulder of the glacier and around La Grave.
Beginners will be able to find their board legs on the wide blue runs at the top of the mountain but may have a harder time lower down. Freeriders will enjoy plenty of natural powder bowls and off-piste to tackle around La Grave. The real shining gem in Les Deux Alpes is its terrain park; probably one of the best in the French Alps with an assortment of boxes rails and kickers for all levels and a half-pipe and super-pipe.
With many ski schools and instructors to choose between, there really is something for everybody.

On the mountain, we recommend the Altitude La Toura who serve some fantastic pizzas, salads and other great mountain favourites, all at a reasonable price. If you want something a little more budget-friendly then try Le Paëllou for classic local dishes.
Les Deux Alpes is known for it’s lively après ski scene. A great place to start the party after the lifts shut is Le Pano Bar, with live DJ’s and a great atmosphere. Les Deux Alpes also has a vast array of pubs and bars in town which are all normally open after the lifts shut. Anyone looking for a late-night bar will enjoy L’Avalanche Club; a great spot which opens at 11:30am and carries on the party all the way until 6am.
