Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort USA

From easy to the extreme with plenty in between, Palisades Tahoe ski resort (previously Squaw Valley) is one of our favourites in Lake Tahoe. It's an easy life here, with quick access to a magnificent mountain and all the cosy convenience of a purpose-built village. Nestling between six big peaks and one very big lake, Palisades Tahoe is where you'll discover some of the most exciting and diverse skiing and boarding in the Tahoe region.

The six peaks define Palisades Tahoe ski resort's profile, and it's the lifts servicing each peak that is graded, instead of the trails, which are not shown on the trail map. But the 1960 Olympic resort has decided to introduce more named trails, breaking away from its “ski anywhere” policy. The mountains here are fabulous for experts, some rippling with monster moguls, steep chutes, gullies and drops - snowboarders love Palisades Tahoe for this and its three snow-parks. For intermediates, there are cruising trails, steeper blues and mild powder-rich blacks. Beginners will love the rich choice of easy greens to progress to from the nursery slopes.

Palisades Tahoe ski resort, a small village at the base of the mountain, is another successful offspring of Intrawest, Whistler's big daddy. Tucked back from the north shore of Lake Tahoe, the village is not only convenient for the slopes but has beautiful views towards the lake too. For a small place, the choice of food is impressive, with sushi, steak and tapas all a few doors away. Lots of the restaurants double up as bars too, so if you're looking for beers and cheers, they're out there somewhere.
