Ski Areas

The recent installation of the Sorebois 3km long cable car enabled access to the neighbouring region of Zinal; opening the ski area up to easy piste cruising on 43km of long red runs, a black run following the cable route back and much more. This successfully enhanced the appeal of the area to the intermediate skier. In total, Grimentz spans 115km of pistes connected by 21 lifts; from which splendid panoramic views of the Rhone Valley can be enjoyed.

Grimentz accommodations

The main attraction of Grimentz is its off-piste and freeride skiing, much of which can be accessed by the lifts. Experts will love the variety of the terrain, ranging from a huge ski-anywhere bowl to a multitude of tree runs lower down in resort. The Bendolla ski area’s relaxed blues and reds are great for beginners, whilst its surrounding more difficult runs provide a welcome progression for the advancing skier.

Ski Schools

Ski Zenit offers private or group lessons for all abilities, and these can either be carried out in Grimentz-Zinal or nearby resorts if you wish to travel further afield. In addition to this, lessons tailored specifically for ski-racing technique or freeriding are also available. Tour the backcountry of Grimentz with an expert guide, taking on extreme opportunities in untracked conditions which last for weeks after the last snowfall.

The ESI ski school runs group lessons for children aged three years and above in the resort’s Snow Garden. This is easily accessible from the top of the gondola and features a magic carpet, various activities and educational materials. There is also a daycare centre in the Bendolla area for two-year olds, with hourly, half-day or full day options available to suit your needs.

Grimentz offers a good selection of restaurants, such as the Arlequin pizzeria or the l'Etable du Marais which serves fantastic traditional food in large portion sizes. Orzival is another local hotspot which comes recommended with great pasta and a cosy atmosphere. Up the mountain, you will find a range of Alpine huts in the Val d’Anniviers; such as the Restaurant d’Altitude de Sorebois situated at the top of the cable car and serving stunning views of the surrounding glaciers and summits.

Après Ski

Grimentz is more typically chosen for its peaceful mountain charm and uncrowded slopes – rather than the promised party atmosphere of its nearby counterparts, Zermatt or Verbier. Nonetheless, you will find a nice selection of cosy spots to enjoy local tipples in the late afternoon sun after a long day on the slopes. Le Country Pub is a superb wine bar offering karaoke, live music and a pool table; whilst Domino attracts a younger clientele with its darts board and snacks until 1am.

Grimentz is a fantastic destination for groups due to its versatility. Whilst the keen skier will be out making the most of the powder, those looking for off-slope activities will enjoy touring the historic sites, learning about the Vin du Glacier wine, visiting the communal cattle shed and finding out what 19th century life was like in La Maison de Grand Maman.
