February Ski Holiday FAQs
February is the peak time to go skiing and the snow is pretty fantastic across the board. There’s even an outside chance that there might be too much snow (if there is such a thing), with white-out blizzards and fresh powder up to your waist.
February is typically quite a busy time to go skiing, especially during the half term for obvious reasons. With that in mind, the atmosphere and buzz around ski resorts at this time of year is unbeatable. There’s nothing else like it.
St. Anton and Ischgl are famously wonderful resorts to stop by at your fair share of slopeside bars and teamed with their famed nightlife, these are two very strong options for an Après ski-heavy trip. Additionally, Val d’Isère, Méribel, and Verbier also offer a great mix of après ski and nightlife. There’s plenty more, of course, but those are a few of our favourites.
Great places to go skiing for families in February, amongst many others, include La Plagne, Les Gets, and Obergurgl. These resorts have wonderful, gentle slopes available, as well as ski schools and activities for children.
Over in North America, Whistler, Beaver Creek and Breckenridge are designed with families in mind. All three of these resorts and more are famed for offering wide runs, childcare options, and dedicated beginner areas.
This coming February, if you’re planning to head to Cortina, then you’ll find yourself in the midst of the 2026 Winter Olympics! On top of that, you’ll have all of the usual torchlight descents, live music, fireworks, and street festivals, along with dog-sledding, snowshoe walks and ice skating.
Larger resorts with a more après-leaning vibe will also regularly have international DJs playing!
Both Europe and North America are amazing in February and we couldn’t recommend both enough, but they do offer different experiences. While Europe has huge ski areas with shorter flights from the UK and lively après ski, North America is famous for quieter slopes, reliable powder, and exceptional service. Cost and travel times do tend to be higher for the latter though, so it’s always worth bearing that in mind when planning a skiing trip.
