Situated between 1,057m and 1,645m, this cosy resort is perfect for beginners and intermediates looking to find their snow-feet. It is also a great location for families with younger children looking for something less daunting and busy than some of the larger resorts. Small mountain huts and beautiful panoramas adorn the slopes, making it a scenic and truly Alpine resort.
The demanding Hochleiten piste is a steep black run, perfect for ambitious freeriders looking for a challenge. Riding through the trees in Filzmoos is only recommended for highly experienced riders due to the nature of the slopes. In the beginner's area, there are some boxes and rails, yet Filzmoos lacks any dedicated freestyle area, making it better suited to lovers of off-piste. There is the Flachauwinkl area nearby which provides a great getaway for those wanting to spend time in the park.
The ski school in Filzmoos has been running for 65 years; with highly experienced instructors, the ski school aims to give every visitor an unforgettable holiday, packed full of fun. Lessons are available for adults and children, with the option of both private and group lessons. Filzmoos is also a great place to learn to snowboard, and lessons cater for all abilities of boarder.
Après ski is quieter in Filzmoos due to the size of the resort. However, there are still some good options for those wanting to keep going once the slopes are closed. The Kalahari Bar is a stylish cocktail bar boasting live music and DJs throughout the season. The Happy Alm and Alm Stadl are also great options for those looking to relax after a day of skiing.
For non-skiers, there are still plenty of activities to get involved in, including winter walking, horse-drawn sleigh rides and tobogganing. There is also a leisure centre in the town with both indoor and outdoor pools, saunas and bowling to enjoy. These activities are all great options for the whole family to enjoy together.
