Hafjell ski holidays are ideal for families, located only two hours drive from the capital, Oslo. The ski resort is perfect for beginners with three nursery slopes, including one at the top of the resort, allowing first-time skiers the full mountain experience. Hafjell ski resort offers 50 km of varied terrain connected by 18 highly efficient heated lifts.

Located at an elevation of 1059 m, this resort is perfectly suited to all abilities and is famous for its well-groomed slopes. More recently the resort has developed its on-mountain experience with the addition of new cafes, bars, restaurants and slopeside accommodation.

Ski Areas in Hafjell

Hafjell’s gondola and lift infrastructure provide quick and easy access to the whole mountain. Skiers of all abilities will be able to explore, with wide-open runs ideal for intermediates and Olympic-level runs for more advanced skiers. This unique mountain set-up also allows beginners to learn at the top of the slopes at a dedicated ski school located at 950m.

Skiing in Hafjell

Best known for hosting the giant slalom and alpine skiing events at the Lillehammer 1994 Winter Olympics, Hafjell continues to attract skiers and snowboarders. The slopes provide a variety of ski runs to suit all abilities, many of these within the tree line, providing ideal shelter on bad weather days.

Snowboarding in Hafjell

Hafjell is the perfect resort for snowboarders, with a terrain park built for all ability levels. The 'Backyard' area within this park has been designed specifically for intermediates looking to practice their skills. Snowboarders can also make use of the snowboarding school in Hafjell with numerous expert instructors on hand. 

Ski Schools in Hafjell

Hafjell’s has three children's areas: one by the bottom station, one at the top of the gondola, and one near Gaiastova. All three with unique ski-related themes. At the ski school in Hafjell, you can learn everything from the most basic ski techniques to completely new ski disciplines.

Open daily through the season from 9:30am - 4pm, skiers will be able to enjoy ski school group bookings and individual lessons.

Crèches in Hafjell

KIDS Knerten is a family area placed centrally in Hafjell's bottom station and is open daily throughout the season from 10am until 4pm for children aged two and over to learn.

Après Ski in Hafjell

Skavlen Restaurant is located on top of the Gondola and offers lunch, coffee and cakes with a great view of the Gudbrandsdalen valley.

Lodgen: located at 200m above Skitorget, Lodgen is an after-ski bar with a great selection of drinks.

Woody's is well known for their tasty burgers. They always show sport on the big screens and offer great value for children.

Non-Skiers

The town of Lillehammer is a short bus journey away so the non-ski activities and shopping opportunities are plentiful. The Hunderfossen Winter Park is a highlight for families with horse sleigh rides, a troll museum and the chance to stop for a drink inside the ice hotel.
