Ski Chalets

Our ski chalets are perfect for groups or families who want to be catered for but don’t want the more formal setting of a hotel. Most catered chalet holidays are run by British tour operators. There will usually be a chalet host who cooks the meals and keeps the chalet clean and tidy.

Basic chalet ski holidays include meals on six nights, afternoon tea with cakes, wine with the evening meal and a hearty breakfast. However, if you are looking for something even more luxurious, our ski experts can tailor-make your ski holiday to suit your exact requirements. If you’re looking for luxury chalets with swimming pools and a jacuzzi, ski-in ski-out location or a private chef, we can help you.

Ski Chalet Holiday FAQs

Chalet board, otherwise known as a catered chalet, is the most popular type of ski holiday for British families and groups. Catered chalets tend to be a seven-day holiday, with chalet hosts preparing and serving meals during your stay.

Most chalet companies serve breakfast every morning of your stay, afternoon tea, and a three-course dinner (with wine), six nights a week. You can expect dinner the evening you arrive if it is at a reasonable time. If you arrive early, some chalet companies will have afternoon tea prepared.

The hosts usually have one evening off, allowing your group to spend a night exploring the town.

Chalet staff tend to have a Wednesday off during a week’s stay. Ask the chalet hosts for their restaurant recommendations and ensure you book early. Some popular spots get booked up quickly, especially for larger groups.

You may want to enjoy the après scene a while longer or catch a local ice hockey game!

No, while some chalets are bookable as a whole chalet only, there are many chalets available where you can book on a room-by-room basis. You will be in a shared, catered chalet amongst other guests. This is a sociable way to enjoy your holiday, with the chance to meet likeminded people over dinner during the evenings.

As soon as you are ready to commit! Chalets are the most popular type of ski holiday, so usually get booked up quickly. Chalets are harder to find in Italy or Switzerland, so we recommend getting in touch as soon as possible. Once you have your dates in mind, the number of people you’re travelling with and what region you’d like to visit, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Ski chalets have differing star ratings. If you book a more luxury ski chalet (four- or five-star), you can expect the facilities of a small hotel. Higher-starred properties will be near to the slopes, include a sauna, steam and/ or hot tub, a sophisticated, catered menu, and a well-equipped boot room.

A chalet holiday tends to be the most popular choice for avid skiers. Enjoy the cosiness of a home-away-from-home combined with the service of a small boutique hotel. Have the best of both worlds with added flexibility. It’s a great hassle-free way to spend quality time with loved ones. Whether you choose to go catered or self-catered, you will have complete privacy in the comfort of your own space.

Not all chalets can be ski-in ski-out, as some resorts are limited with this access. In which case, catered chalet companies often offer a free shuttle service for their guests.

This is usually offered in the morning, to get to the lifts, and in the afternoon, to return home in time for afternoon tea. Alternatively, most catered ski chalets are close to a bus stop. A short walk and a short bus journey will have you on the slopes in no time. Or, sometimes it’s just a case of walking into the town to the gondola station!
