Hotel Schloss Sonnenburg is a luxurious converted castle convent, standing high on a hill above the Rienx and Gader rivers. The hotel has been carefully refurbished to combine the traditional style and modern design aspects. There is a ski shuttle available from the hotel that takes guests straight to the slopes. 

The hotel boasts 38 unique, traditional style bedrooms. Each has its own view of the stunning surrounding landscapes. Many of the rooms have historic frescoes, wood-panelled doors, antiques and luxurious bathrooms. There are a variety of rooms and suites, as well as tower suites and an outhouse. 

The restaurant on site spoils guests with choice, presenting some of the finest South Tyrolean and Italian/Mediterranean cuisine. There is a great variety at the breakfast buffet, and several courses on offer every evening. 

The hotel boasts a beautiful wellness area, with exposed columns and granite. There is a wonderful indoor pool, as well as a variety of massages and treatments on offer for guests to enjoy.

Kronplatz is part of the Dolomiti Superski area, the largest ski area in the world.

Located in the picturesque Pustertal valley, the Kronplatz region is considered by some to be Europe's best-kept skiing secret. Offering mainly beginner and intermediate terrain there is 119km of pistes to enjoy for everyone in the family. At the centre of the quiet village of San Vigilio is the town's beautiful church, encircling there are a small number of shops, some great restaurants and one après ski bar.

In mid-January, the world's best skiers descend on the resort as the Women's World Cup visit.
