Andy Gilmour Ski Expert

My skiing experience started on a dry slope in Southampton at the age of 10. I was pretty much hooked after that first session and have loved skiing and everything to do with it ever since. Upon finishing my education, I headed out to the Alps and completed three winter seasons before coming back to the UK to focus on the sales side of the ski industry.

My Favourite Resorts

La Tania

Always a tough one but, it’s got to be La Tania. It’s sat in between Courchevel and Meribel so there’s great links to the larger Three Valleys resorts. It’s an incredibly friendly resort with much of the après and nightlife scene focused around a handful of bars, the pick of the bunch has to be the Ski Lodge, pop in for lunch and try one of their famous burgers if you get the chance!

Cervinia

Cervinia is a really nice resort if you are looking for ski-in ski-out access to a great range of terrain that would suit up to intermediates - with the option to ski over into Zermatt too. There are a good range of bars and restaurants in the main village and it is really compact and easy to walk around.

Skiing Wisdom

Best Moment

One of my best moments was driving from Denver to Breckenridge in a snow storm, maybe a bit hairy at the time but completely worth it knowing your first day is going to be a huge powder day.

Top Tip

If you’re struggling with your off-piste skiing hold out your arms in front of you and pretend you’re holding a tray of drinks.
