What a start to the season!

Extraordinary snow has covered the Alps over recent weeks, leading to many resorts opening earlier than planned. The team at Ski Solutions HQ cannot wait to get clients back to the slopes and to return themselves. In the coming weeks, our ski experts will be travelling across Europe and North America to gather unrivalled knowledge to pass on. Keep an eye on our social channels to see where we visit.

The enormous snowfall gracing Europe has led to the early openings of ski resorts across France, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. We think it could be the most snow we’ve seen before our first departures of the season – ever.

Verbier opened lifts on Friday 10 November, three weeks earlier than expected. While Kitzbühel followed suit opening its doors early on 11 November, breaking tradition from its usual opening date of the 25th to the happiness of many.

Snow-sure Tignes opened its lifts on 18 November, as did Madonna di Campiglio. Who else is starting to think November is the new December? We certainly are! With so many clients making a December dash – it’s great to see the enthusiasm to get back to the mountains.

Looking ahead, the next seven days promise a winter wonderland, with nearly half a metre of snow forecasted across the Alps. Destinations like Avoriaz, Courchevel, and Obertauern are set to be enveloped in the magic of early-season snowfall.

Austrian ski resorts dominated the forecast in Europe last week. Kaprun set the stage earlier last month, partially opening on 3 November, with a bumper amount of snow to start the season right. Obertauern partially opened on 30 November and just a day later, opened fully. With a top snow depth of 2m and more than two feet of snowfall at the weekend, ‘Snowbertauern’ is looking like it’s the place to be! Soon, our ski experts will be visiting the ski resort, so watch out for great content on our socials. Ellmau is gearing up to open this weekend, with more than a foot of snow appearing at the weekend.

With an excellent start to winter here, Ski Solutions MD, Ian Mcllrath, can’t wait for season 2023/24 to begin. In his words, ‘This really is looking like the winter not to miss a trip (or trips!) to the slopes.’
