Chalet La Rocheure

Offers available

La Rocheure is a traditional old Val d'Isère farmhouse that retains its original charm with the use of local wood and stone, sections date back to the 17th century. Today it offers a modern and stylish home-from-home. The chalet is decorated to a high-quality finish throughout, with a high ceilinged open-plan lounge and dining area, with a flat-screen TV and DVD player, so don't forget to bring your favourite films. Huge windows open onto a balcony with superb views of Val d’Isère and the Solaise Mountain.

La Rocheure has the perfect location for skiers, offering quick and easy access to the lifts in the mornings (Solaise lift is the closes, approx. 4 minutes' walk/400m) and you can ski back to the door under normal conditions, on the red 'Olympic' piste. It is also close to the resort centre (approx. 7 minutes' walk/700m) for Val's famous après ski, just a few minutes' walk across the piste, or ride the free resort shuttle, that runs until 8pm.

Val d'Isère

One of the world's favourite ski resorts, Val d'Isère has access to the best all-around ski area in the world, the Espace Killy. With just over 100 lifts compared to the 300 to be found in the Trois Vallées, the Espace Killy is obviously not the largest ski area in the world, but size isn’t everything and this region has as much skiing as one could ever need, not to mention the longest winter in the Alps. (The winter ski season here begins in late November and continues until early May and conditions are seldom disappointing).

The main centre of Val d'Isère has been virtually rebuilt over the past 25 years and many of the buildings are imaginative contemporary interpretations of the traditional stone and Savoyard style wood structures.

Ski holidays to Val d'Isère were revolutionised with the introduction of après-ski in the 80s, when Dick Yates-Smith set up the seminal bar-nightclub known as Dicks Tea-Bar.
