Ski and Fjord is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, seeing the wonders that Norway has to offer both on and off the slopes. The UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord is only 35 minutes from the resort of Myrkdalen. Visit the incredible fjord surrounded by steep mountains and small villages. Our Ski and Fjord experience can be individually tailored to experience the scenic beauty of Norway. There are a number of activities you can enjoy when you visit the fjords, including experiencing the famous Flåm Railway, cruising the Nærøyfjord and visiting the Stegastein viewpoint.
The Flåm Railway has been described as one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys. Over the course of one hour, the train takes you from sea level at the Sognefjord in Flåm to the Myrdal mountain station, an impressive 867m above sea level, and then back down. It is one of the steepest railway lines in the world, running through spectacular scenery, vertiginous mountainsides, waterfalls and through 20 tunnels.
The Nærøyfjord fjord is on UNESCO’s world heritage list and it is clear why! Regardless of the season, a cruise on this fjord will be unforgettable, with every season leaving its own unique touch on the landscape. In wintertime, frosty colours, snow-capped peaks and ice-covered waterfalls adorn the mountain sides. Passengers are encouraged to wrap up warm and take to the top decks to enjoy a unique experience.
The Stegastein viewpoint sits an incredible 650m above Aurslandfjord and juts out an impressive 30m from the mountainside. A sight to take your breath away, this viewpoint is the perfect place for snapping those memorable photos.
This experience is truly one of the most exciting experiences that you can add onto your ski holiday, giving you a true flavour of Nordic culture, history and beauty.
