Both tranquil on the slopes and in the picturesque village, La Thuille is a wonderful alternative to the more mainstream European resorts.
La Thuile is a former mining town with extensive pistes and linked to La Rosière in France via the slopes above the Petit San Bernard pass. The scenery is varied, with open bowls and lower wooded slopes overlooked by the nearby Mont Blanc massif. Even at peak times, the pistes of La Thuile are impressively crowd-free. Most of the resorts slopes are north or east facing and above 2,000m so the snow is reliable, and the pistes are kept well-groomed. La Thuile offers some serious blacks and plenty of off-piste action for the expert skiers but is largely for intermediates and beginners, with plenty of gentle blue and red runs on the slopes of Les Suches, perfect for cruising and carving.
