Ski Areas in Gressoney

From Gressoney you can access the whole of the Monterosa Ski area, comprising the villages of Champoluc, Alagna and Gressoney – in fact, it’s known as Italy’s answer to France’s ‘Three Valleys’. Low woodland runs in Gressoney-Saint-Jean make for a fun and scenic ski; whilst higher up the mountain you will discover the wide, open slopes that are virtually empty on weekdays.

Skiing in Gressoney

The mountain terrain in and around Gressoney is best suited to intermediates and experts. Cruising red runs make up most of the skiing across the Monte-Rosa ski area, but Gressoney in particular has become known as the home of Italian off-piste skiing, with a range of gentle and challenging areas. The area boasts breath-taking views that can be fully taken advantage of through the excellent heli-skiing opportunities on offer.

With a range of terrain, including off-piste, Gressoney offers something for all types of boarder. Freeriders and carvers will enjoy the wide-open bowls with both off-piste and pisted areas. Beginner boarders will also be able to learn in Gressoney with easy and gentle slopes to practice on.

Restaurants in Gressoney

Restaurant Punta Jolanda is a small yet perfectly formed traditional mountain restaurant with spectacular views down into the valley. Back in Gressoney-La-Trinité, Petit Bar is a great option for a cosy glass of wine before supper. The husband and wife duo that run the bar are known for their Italian warmth and unsurpassed hospitality. Other favourites include Lo Stambecco, which serves up rustic pasta dishes and classic Italian pizzas cooked in a real-fire pizza oven.

Après Ski in Gressoney

Gressoney is one of the quieter mountain villages in the Monterosa Ski area. It does, however, become livelier at the weekends when the Italians escape to the mountains to enjoy the snow. Castore Lounge Bar & Restaurant can offer a lively scene, with dinner, cocktails and wine tasting on offer, it’s the full package right in the heart of the village. The Castore Lounge Bar, with its 32 flavours of chocolate fondue, is a great place to indulge your sweet tooth, and also has music and dancing that starts in the evening and goes on until late.

Non-Skiers

Non-skiers can enjoy the beautiful views of the Monterosa area with access to the top of the mountain via gondola – this means there’s plenty of opportunity to meet the skiers in the group for lunch at the top. There is also an ice rink in Gressoney village.
