Serre Chevalier is a rustic mountain region with a collection of unique buildings spread out along a large valley. These vary between ultra-modern hamlets to old-style, traditional villages. The ski resort has the advantage of some of the best lift access, with both a gondola and a cable-car to whisk you up into the midst of the wider skiing area.
Often considered the hidden gem of the southern French Alps, Serre Chevalier has four villages that share a vast 250km of skiing terrain. With something to suit skiers and snowboarders of all abilities, it's is the ideal ski resort for families and groups alike.
The ski resort has fantastic freeride terrain to explore. The high bowls at L’Eychauda and below the Pic de L’Yret are popular spots to drop into. There's plenty of off piste skiing terrain making it one of the best powder spots in France. Freestylers will be pleased to know that there’s a state-of-the-art terrain park to enjoy.
The villages themselves have traditional French mountain architecture. There are cobbled streets with small local shops, cosy bars and restaurants. Serre Chevalier also has excellent childcare facilities. Each village has its quiet nightlife spots. There isn’t a party atmosphere in the ski resort, however, you can have a quiet relaxing drink after a day on the mountain instead.
Serre Chevalier ski resort prides itself on its sustainability efforts. There’s been significant investment in hydroelectric power, solar panels and wind turbines. All of which is used to head towards a goal of being a 100% sustainable ski resort.
You can fly into Grenoble or Turin airports to get to the resort. Both have just over 2 hours of transfer time. Call our ski experts today to find out more about Serre Chevalier ski resort.
