Isola 2000 is a great choice for a long weekend, offering a short transfer of only 50 miles from Nice airport. The resort is also generally snow-sure and there is a good amount of skiing to be done here on varied slopes. Isola is renowned for its exceptional natural snow record and is also supplemented by over 90km of artificial snow cover, guaranteeing good conditions throughout the season.
Regarded as one of the Alps' most beautiful ski areas, you can experience splendid panoramic views from the Massif des Ecrins to the Mediterranean sea from the slopes, providing a wonderfully unique and impressive skiing experience.
With ski-in ski-out accommodation, high altitude and enough variety of pistes, it is a great little-known ski resort. Renowned for its record of sunny days, Isola 2000 is a great ski resort for fair weather skiers.

With 120km of mainly north facing, runs ranging from 2,000m all the way up to 2,610m, you can be happy knowing that you're very likely to have great snow during your stay. The ski area is relatively mixed with enough runs for beginners to find their feet and more challenging, steeper runs for intermediates and experts. You can also travel to Auron, a half hour drive, and enjoy another 135km of slopes there, all of which is conveniently covered by the same ski pass.
Beginners have a large designated area near the base of the resort, meaning that they won’t have to travel far to practice. Intermediates will find long, windy blues and reds which are well maintained and not a series of mogul-fields. The resort's terrain is mostly geared towards those starting out, meaning advanced skiers have a more limited range of black runs, however, there are some great freeride sections under the lifts, especially through the trees and little cliffs around Les Melezes.
There are plenty of easy-going beginner runs in the low-traffic areas around the base of the resort. Overall, Isola is an excellent resort for those who are still mastering the basics, with plenty of gentle terrain. More advanced boarders can head to the resort's freestyle park or go searching through the trees under the lifts for some admirable off-piste territory.
With many ski schools and instructors to choose between, there really is something for everybody.
We’ve partnered with SkiBro, New Generation and Oxygène and highly recommend their services. All of our partners offer fantastic lessons for all ability levels.

Isola 2000 is a resort well suited to families, and children are taken care of by establishments such as the Nursery for Little Angels which provides supervision for those aged between three months and six years. Older children aged between four and six years can ski with the ESF Piou-Piou Club for young children.
Isola 2000 has a selection of good restaurants serving hearty Alpine cuisine and a few others serving sumptuous steaks and perfect pizzas. In the resort, we like L’Himalaya who serve some great steaks and have a varied menu. Chez Madame Phok is also worth a visit, offering up an alternative mix of Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine.
Nightlife and après ski is relatively low-key, but there are several bars to choose between after a long day on the slopes. After the lifts shut, most of the crowds head to Le Crocodile, a popular pub with the locals as they regularly show live sport. The Snowball bar is also another great spot which opens early and doesn’t close until 2:30am.
Purpose built for skiers to maximise their time on the slopes, Isola 2000 is not the ideal destination for non-skiers as there are not a huge number of off-mountain activities readily available. However, with Nice and Auron being so close there is the option to travel around and enjoy day excursions to the neighbouring bustling cities.
