Fairmont Chateau Whistler

Opened in 1989, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is, without doubt, Whistler’s premier address. With the Great Hall lobby, roaring open fires, plush décor and extensive facilities on offer, guests find it hard to leave the property, except to walk the few steps to the Wizard high-speed chairlift which leaves from directly outside the Chateau. Situated at the base of the Blackcomb mountains, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, is a true ski-in ski-out property in British Columbia's most famous resort.

The Chateau is also a short walk from the Whistler village centre offering guests the chance to conveniently experience several aprés ski activities throughout their stay. The Whistler village has many activities available including sightseeing, museums and swimming as well as cinemas and off-road 4x4 tours.

A home-from-home feel, the rooms at the Chateau range from comfortable double rooms to the luxurious 'Gold Room' with expansive views onto the resort.

The Grill Room, Whistler’s on-site restaurant destination for chops, steak and seafood, offers an exceptional standard of cuisine in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Market & Fresh Bakery, Portobello, offers a hip, casual Whistler setting featuring made to order fare and a speciality coffee bar, while the comfortable après-ski Mallard Lounge provides fabulous views and a low-key atmosphere for light meals and cocktails. For a genuine winter dining experience, The Chalet offers an intimate winter fondue menu and optional horse-drawn sleigh ride.

Boasting both indoor/outdoor swimming pools, whirlpools, fitness room and eucalyptus steam room, with an in-house spa, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler has everything needed on-site to unwind after a day on the slopes.

Whistler

Whistler ski resort is one of the most highly regarded destinations in the world for skiing holidays. Some will never holiday anywhere else. Whistler ski resort is the biggest ski area in Canada and one of the most famous ski resorts in the world. Home to the highest ski lift of its kind in the world, Peak 2 Peak Gondola, keen skiers and boarders have over 8,000 acres of incredible and varied terrain to tackle across the two mountains. Whistler is all about flying through the trees, playing in high open bowls, and magnificent snow. Coupled with all the delights of a supreme modern village, you might say this is as good as it gets.

Whistler Village is a varied cluster of chalets, apartments and some high-rise blocks. It is purpose-built but tasteful, with a car-free centre. The colourful variety of après-ski bars and the vast array of eateries mean the only difficulty is choosing where to go. The village is very lively, but there are rocking bars with live music as well as quiet and cosy snugs, gourmet restaurants (make sure you book in advance) as well as cheap and cheerful cafés - whatever you’re looking for, something will fit the bill.
