Boasting fascinating landscapes, endless runs and fantastic snow, the Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski resorts offers a lot of fun skiing opportunities. With more than 60 ski huts, numerous snow parks and toboggan runs, there is simply something for every visitor to the area. Saalbach-Hinterglemm is one of the most diverse ski areas and one of Austria's hidden gems.
The extensive ski area that forms around the villages of Saalbach-Hinterglemm creates a circuit that results in the ability to ski from valley to valley and piste to piste throughout the day. Saalbach ski resort is great for intermediates with its sunny south-facing slopes and some long red and blue runs. For the more advanced, there is more challenging terrain around the north-facing side, including the 4km long Nordabfahrt run. With a revamped lift system most of the resort's lifts are fast and efficient, meaning that you can keep skiing until your heart's content.
Great for boarders, Saalbach ski resort has an extensive network of linked slopes and a variety of terrain that will be enjoyed by all abilities. The off-piste is also desirable when the conditions permit. There is also a terrain park with its own serviced lift which is open until the early evening.
With many ski schools and instructors to choose between, there really is something for everybody.
We’ve partnered with SkiBro, New Generation and Oxygène and highly recommend their services. All of our partners offer fantastic lessons for all skiing ability levels.

Most of the local restaurants are situated in hotels. The Kohlmais Stub’n in Saalbach is at the foot of the slopes and has a charming ambience and creative, regional food. Hotel Peter’s restaurant serves great meat dishes cooked on hot stones in an atmospheric setting. The many eateries of the Alpenhotel, including Italian and Chinese, are worth a try.
One of the most infamous bars is Hinethag Alm where the party starts and continues down into town to Bauer’s Schi-Alm, an old cow shed with attached umbrella bars. The uniquely renovated medieval jail that is now Zum Turm is an interesting place to have a drink after a long day. The nightlife is much quieter in Hinterglemm but Hinterhag is a fun, goat-themed bar that is a great place to enjoy a drink off the mountain.
For those that aren’t looking to go skiing there are plenty of beautiful walks to be had. Both of the villages are also perfect for exploring and there is the opportunity to go on toboggan runs and day trips to Salzburg.
