Kühtai ski resort is located in between the Ö​tztal and the Stubai mountain ranges and is just 35km from Innsbruck. Boasting doorstep skiing, a snow-sure record and breathtaking scenery, it’s one of the highest ski resorts in Austria.

This relatively unknown, small and quiet ski resort is one of Austria’s best hidden gems. A modern gondola and other fast chairlifts make it easy and efficient to reach a variety of runs from cruising blues to blacks.

When the snow is worse lower down the valley, Kühtai ski resort becomes more popular with locals. There are numerous hotels and apartments in the area as well as a fitness centre and a few bars that become livelier on most weekends.

Ski Areas in Kühtai

With ski slopes as far as the eye can see, this high-altitude ski resort offers guaranteed snow, making it a true winter wonderland. Although Kühtai only has just over 46km of slopes, it is easy to navigate and carve up the snow as it is generally very quiet and peaceful. There are slopes open on Wednesdays and Saturdays for night skiing, meaning that you can make the most of your time in the resort.

The snow-sure terrain in Kühtai ski resort is wide, open and above the tree-line, making it ideal for intermediates. There are a few challenging sectors and difficult black runs which more advanced skiers will enjoy. The high altitude of the skiing here means that the conditions are skiable when other resorts are closed.

Although petite, this resort has some fantastic riding opportunities. On the shady side of the mountain, there are some fantastic powder fields that drop into snow bowls and onto the toboggan track. There is also a great snowpark with a line of various rails and big table-top jumps for more confident boarders.
