Cervinia is up there with one of the most popular ski resorts in Italy. It has a fantastically high ski altitude and impressive views of the Matterhorn. The ski resort suits beginner to intermediate skiers, with 160km worth of groomed slopes. It is a favourite with visitors as it is also close to Zermatt ski area, giving an opportunity to ski in both Italy and Switzerland. Zermatt ski terrain offers more of a challenge to those with more advanced abilities. If visitors wish to ski into Switzerland it is important to note that you should allow plenty of time to return as once lifts shut it can be very expensive taxi back to Cervinia.

For those who enjoy freestyle skiing there is a world-class snow-park, which once hosted snowboard events in the 2006 Winter Olympics.
