Hotel Tsanteleina

The Tsanteleina is 4 star hotel located in the centre of Val d’Isère on the main avenue. Just 150 meters away from ski lifts this hotel is beautifully designed with lashings of wood throughout to create a standout alpine residence in the stylish resort of Val d’Isere

Opened in 1948 by Roger Mattis with just 18 rooms, the hotel is still run by the Mattis family but now boasts 54 rooms and suites – and has undergone some major transformations in the past few years. The M Bar is a good spot for an aperitif or an after-dinner drink. The restaurant La Table des Neiges has been awarded of 3 Fourchettes and 1 Assiette by Michelin guide.

For families, the hotel proposes suites and interconnecting rooms. For the next winter season, because of the renovation of the right side of the hotel, you will have new rooms like Suite Village and Suite Familiale Montagne especially to welcome families. All in all, a great choice.

Val d'Isère

Val d'Isère is probably the resort that has access to the best all-round ski area in the world, the Espace Killy With just over 100 lifts compared to the 300 to be found in the Trois Vallées, the Espace Killy is obviously not the largest ski area in the world, but size isn’t everything and this region has as much skiing as one could ever need, not to mention the longest winter in the Alps. (The winter ski season here begins in late November and continues until early May and the early- and late-season conditions are seldom disappointing.

The main centre of Val d'Isere has been virtually rebuilt over the past 25 years and many of the buildings are imaginative contemporary interpretations of the traditional stone and wood Savoyard style.

Val d'Isere ski holidays were revolutionised with the introduction of apres-ski in the 80s when Dick Yates-Smith set up the seminal bar-nightclub, known as Dicks Tea-Bar.
