Resort details

Pila

The ‘undiscovered diamond’ of the Aosta Valley, Pila is a fantastic Italian resort.

With over 70km of piste catering to all difficulty levels, Pila certainly isn’t the ‘ski nirvana’ that the huge linked areas of Val Thorens and Paradiski have come to be regarded as. However, it’s that precise reason which brings about a host of other benefits which you’ll have a hard time not appreciating.

The slopes are lavished in ample powder, with acres of off-piste terrain ripe for the riding in the event experienced skiers should happen to find the regular pistes too tame for their liking.

Lift queues – arguably the bane of every seasoned holidaygoer – were also virtually non-existent (even on the weekend), and the selection of slopeside restaurants our team have sampled – though not quite as broad and eclectic as some of the more established resorts – represented excellent value for money; a rare and unexpected treat.

If you’re looking for pistes as far as the eye can see with a generous topping of boisterous nightlife, then Pila probably isn’t the resort for you. However, if you’re merely content with your own little slice of mountain for the week in this hidden gem of a resort, then act quick – the cat won’t stay in the bag forever!
