Superbly positioned at the heart of the Milky Way’s 400km of pistes is the highest and most snow-sure resort in this area.
Purpose built in the 1930s, Sestriére has a modern and trendy feel. Après ski is varied - from cosy wine bars to more lively bars and pubs. The already extensive lift system was further improved for the 2006 Winter Olympics with new uphill capacity in Sauze d'Oulx and Sansicario.

Part of the expansive Milky Way region, Sestriére has access to over 400km of piste stretching from the neighbouring resort of Sauze d'Oulx all the way to the French resort of Montgenévre. Situated just above the treeline, the resort is one of the highest resorts in Italy, and with its high number of snow cannons, skiing is always accessible.
The vastly interconnected trails spread over the Milky Way can be easily accessed from Sestriére. All abilities of skiers are catered for in this area, especially intermediates with a great selection of red runs spread through the region. Beginners have a range of nursery slopes to learn on, as well as good progressive runs found further up the mountain. Experts can enjoy hard black runs and additionally, heliskiing opportunities, which are hugely popular in the area.
Sestriére is a fantastic area suitable for all types of boarders. Beginners are well catered for, especially in the Borgata area where there are quiet nursery slopes perfect to practice on. Intermediates and experts can enjoy a mix of black and red runs, offering great slopes to carve down. The area also hosts a range of off-piste ideal for freeriders, and freestylers can enjoy the 300m long park in Borgata.

The kindergarten in Sestriére, named Sestriéreland, hosts a range of obstacles in a large playground perfect for children. There is also a Mini Club Sestriére located in Piazza Fraiteve for children aged 1 to 8 years.
There is a variety of restaurants on offer in resort. La Baita offers traditional Italian food perfect to re-energise after a day on the slopes. For good quick eats, Zio Popy and Pinkie's Pizzeria are popular choices. For a finer dining experience, the Shackleton Restaurant offers local speciality dishes cooked with local ingredients.
Après ski in Sestriére is known to be lively, especially at the weekends. Pinkies Pizzeria is well known in resort for its delicious pizza, live music and reasonably priced drinks, located right on the main pistes. Black Pepper, the Irish Igloo and La Caverna are also popular and remain lively until late.
Non-skiers can enjoy a variety of winter trail walks available in Sestriére, including snowshoeing walks. Other winter activities such as ice skating, Skidooing and dog sledding are also on offer. There is a large public swimming pool located in the town that makes a great spot for those not looking to get on the snow.
