Valmorel Ski Resort France
Valmorel is a French village located at 1,400m. The resort is composed of a number of small satellite villages, each of which includes mostly chalet-style buildings with self-catering accommodation.
Valmorel has gained the reputation of being an excellent family resort for a number of reasons. First, the centre of the village is car-free. Second, most of the pistes cater to beginners and intermediates. Third, there are areas specially designed for people of all ages to learn.

Ski Areas in Valmorel
The Grand Domaine ski area offers 165km of marked piste, which is enough to keep you entertained for the week. This ski area leans heavily towards beginners and intermediates with lots of easy greens and blues. Skiers and snowboarders coming to Valmorel looking for advanced and challenging pistes, freeride or a terrain park should probably look elsewhere; this resort is tailored to novices and families with young children.
Accommodation
Skiing in Valmorel
This area is great for beginners and intermediates, with plenty of greens and blues to help progress your level of skiing. There are a couple of blacks and some great freeride around the Mottet area for advanced skiers, however it should be noted that the areas on the piste will quickly be completed by the best skiers.
Snowboarding in Valmorel
Beginners or intermediates will enjoy cruising on Valmorel's blues, whilst advanced snowboarders may struggle to find more challenging pistes. There is however a terrain park for freestyle boarders to enjoy. It should be noted that 21 of Valmorel's 33 lifts are draglifts, which may prove a challenge for complete boarding novices.

Restaurants in Valmorel
Valmorel offers a great selection of family-friendly dining options. Le Petit Prince is one of the village favourites, serving delicious Alpine cuisine at budget-friendly prices in a relaxed atmosphere.
Another great establishment is La Casa Pizz who have a range of brilliant pizzas, easily the best in the resort.
Après Ski in Valmorel
Valmorel has a relaxed après scene but there are a few places to go for a beverage after the lifts shut. Jimbo Lolo is a trendy bar that is a popular spot during the post-skiing rush, serving great tex-mex style food. Le Café de la Gare is a cosy bar that is good for relaxing with a wine or beer in the evening.
For night-owls, Le Sound Pub & Club will have music playing up until the early hours.
Non-Skiers
Valmorel offers some alternative winter sports activities, such as the option to hire a guide and go snowshoeing or Nordic walking. There is also the option to see the sights from the skies on a fantastic paragliding experience.
