Châtel ski resort is nestled in the heart of the Portes du Soleil region; a vast area with 600km of skiing to enjoy. Sitting at 1,200m and with lifts going as high as 2,466m, fantastic snow conditions are guaranteed all season long. With a large area of varied runs, there is enough skiing to satisfy all levels - making it the ideal destination for families and mixed ability groups.
There are a vast amount of options for skiing in Châtel, as the Portes du Soleil ski area is at your doorstep. Avoriaz, Morgins and Torgon are but a few of the nearby resorts which are easily accessible. In Châtel itself, skiing is separated into two different mountains: Super-Châtel and Linga. Beginners will find lots of easier slopes around Châtel but advanced and intermediate skiers will most likely want to venture out into the Portes du Soleil to find more challenging pistes and freeride terrain.
Beginner boarders will have a good time cruising around Châtel's greens and blues, whilst intermediates and advanced boarders will soon be keen to venture out to the Portes du Soleil. Freeriders will have plenty of tree runs and a few bowls to discover but may want to head to Avoriaz for more extensive powder runs. Châtel's terrain park is best suited towards beginner to intermediate riders, whilst experts will want to head over to freestyle paradise Avoriaz.

Châtel is a family orientated ski resort, providing access to a good range of childcare options. ESF and Châtel Sensations both offer child ski lessons starting from three years old. For non-skiing children, there is Les Mouflets, who will look after children as young as four months. There are also private nannies in resort who can offer additional services such as evening babysitting.
With lots of hotels in the resort, there are several reputable hotel restaurants that serve a range of international and local cuisines. For a mix of traditional Savoyard and contemporary cuisine head to either Le Vieux Four or La Poya. La Ripaille is one of the most popular restaurants in Châtel located opposite the Linga gondola.
On the mountain, La Leiche is a quaint little gastro-bar with a real log burner serving their classic, hearty lunches which visitors to the French Alps will love.
Châtel has been able to retain an authentic French feel to its après ski with several great bars and nightclubs. La Godille, Nazca Bar and L’Avalanche are the most popular bars in resort which everyone flocks to after the last run. For night owls looking to party into the night, head to Le Sloopy’s which is open from midnight until 5:30am.
Spectacular walks and easy access to surrounding resorts and areas mean that non-skiers will not have a hard time finding things to do. For those that have a car; Evian, Geneva and Thonon are nearby pretty towns which are ideal for a day excursion. There is also a leisure centre which offers facilities for guests to indulge in some rest and relaxation.
