I was in my twenties when I first skied, thanks to a Canadian friend who persuaded me to go to Austria with her for a long weekend. I was convinced I’d hate it but agreed to go for the après parties. By day two, I was hooked and haven’t looked back since.

Number of Seasons

Three, two years in Northern Canada and one year in Queenstown, New Zealand.

My Favourite Resorts

Red Mountain

I tend to seek out smaller, lesser-known resorts when I can. For example, I love Red Mountain in Canada for its surprisingly extensive terrain and laid-back atmosphere in the village.

In Europe, Kitzbuhel in Austria is my go-to for group holidays, especially if some beginners are with me. It’s a perfect mix of fun skiing, après ski, and plenty of other entertainment options.

Skiing Wisdom

Top Tip

Skip the early rush for first lifts!
Get up on the mountain a little later, ski through lunch on emptier pistes, then enjoy a late long rose lunch in the sun.

Favourite Hotel

I have always wanted to treat myself and stay somewhere iconic like Chateau Lake Louise.
