Snowbird USA

A hidden gem in the Wasatch Mountain Range, Snowbird is famous for having some of the best snow you can find. The skiing and snowboarding area has been open since 1971 and has an impressive 2,500 acres of skiable terrain.

Snowbird is located in the heart of the Wasatch National Forest on the eastern border of Sandy, a suburb of Salt Lake City. The ski area shares Little Cottonwood Canyon with Alta Ski Area to the east. From Winter 2002, Snowbird and Alta have offered a joint pass that allows skiers access to both resorts. This opens up skiable terrain to 4,700 acres, more than enough for every guest.

Snowbird receives over 500 inches of snowfall every year due to the lake-effect enhancement from the Great Salt Lake, located just 40 miles away. This huge snowfall makes Snowbird the second snowiest area in the United States. This snow is beautifully dry and powdery, making it perfect for powder-hounds.

Snowbird also has one of the longest ski seasons in the world, with skiing on the upper part of the mountain sometimes lasting until the Fourth of July. The area also set the record for cumulative snowfall in May 2011, with a whopping 776 inches.
