1,350m above sea level, in the mountainous heart of the Bernese Oberland, Adelboden is a village-sized cluster of gingerbread-house wooden chalets surrounded by pine trees and flanked by snow-capped peaks. Adelboden hosts within it 24 hotels, 3800 vacation homes, 28 group accommodations, 3 camp sites and 40 restaurants. It is part of the Adelboden - Lenk ski area which has a 210 kilometres of pisted runs and 72 lifts as well as freestyle snow-parks. This resort town is a haven for snowsports fanatics and Alpine adventurers as there are ski runs of all degrees of difficulty, including the world-cup giant slalom run on the Kuonisbärgli, and cross-country ski trails. There are also 40 km (25 mi) of winter hiking trails for those who want a day off the slopes or to take in the magnificent views at a slower pace.
