Connected to some of the most extensive skiing in the world through access to the Dolomiti Superski area, Val Gardena is truly a bucket-list ski destination.
Val Gardena is a valley in the South Tyrol area of the Italian Dolomites and is home to three mountain villages; Selva Val Gardena, S. Cristina and Ortisei. Here, where Italy and Austria collide, Val Gardena hosts beautifully managed pistes that connect into the Dolomiti Superski area, offering up access to the famous Sella Ronda ski circuit. With the Sella massif at its centre – a stunning mountain range, not to mention a UNESCO World heritage site – this is possibly one of the most scenic skis to be had in Europe.
Some of the best winter sports champions in Europe have spent many an hour carving up the slopes of Val Gardena. All things considered, it will come as no surprise that a huge amount of money has been pumped into bringing state-of-the-art mobility facilities to the area. Comfortable and efficient lifts whisk skiers and snowboarders alike from one area to another in the wink of an eye, meaning there is even more time to be spent enjoying these pristine slopes.
With Tyrolean culture still upheld in the area, Val Gardena hosts a lively nightlife and fantastic culinary tradition. There is plenty on offer to entertain visitors from gastronomic delights of Italian and traditional dishes, to wine bars and happy hour hangouts.
