We loved Hotel Touring in Maddona di Campiglio. This family run hotel was lovely and very welcoming, having the luxury of a swimming pool and spa in the evening was magic. We were a little concerned that the lifts up from the town would be a little spread out but in good snow condition they all interconnected well. The hotel gave car lifts the short distance to the cable car every morning which was very helpful with younger children, adults could happily make the short walk. The piste back to the hotel was an easy blue and our children managed it after only one lesson.
Madonna di Campiglio is the perfect resort for those looking for a mix of easy running pistes for learning/relaxing skiing and reds and blacks for a bit more adventure. We were lucky with a fresh snow fall early in the week which made the conditions perfect. Flights (with EasyJet - getting more and more like a scheduled airline) and transfers were good, quick and comfortable. Not being tied to a package company meant the service was just for us. Hotel Touring is the sort of hotel we like, family run, comfortable, unpretentious. The room was comfortable if small, the food good, but the service was the standout feature; nothing seemed too much trouble. It was telling that a Danish family we talked to had been returning for the last 6 years; I can understand why. Our 9 year old son was in ski-school and even though the instructor had little english and the rest of the class (limited to 6) were Italian, he really enjoyed it and showed a marked improvement. To some up, we all agreed it was the best skiing holiday we have had as a family and this is our fifth. Our son has already asked if we can go back next year.
The owners and the staff at the Hotel Touring in Madonna di Campiglio were fantastic. The food was very good as well although Italian breakfasts are not great - lots of biscuits, cakes and even puddings from the night before! The swimming pool, sauna, etc. were also very good.
I can't fault the staff and hospitality of the Hotel Touring in Madonna di Campiglio. They were very welcoming and keen to please.
