The Chalet was in an ideal position close to the town and to the ski lifts. The Ahorn lift was right in front of the property and the other lift was a 5/10 min walk away. All staff were great, helpful and always worked with a smile.
Chalet Hotel Stoanerhof is an excellent chalet with fantastic food (flexible dietary requirements also catered for) and extremely helpful staff. Flexible triple rooms are available if needed at a small supplement. It is possible to ski back to the chalet from the Ahorn runs if the snow is good and the Ahorn cable car and rental shop is just by the hotel but the majority of this resort is accessed from the town's main street. The Penken gondola is a good 10 minutes walk (half a mile) carrying skis/board. The resort is quite poorly linked and the piste map complicated in parts. It is easy to get to adjoining resorts by bus (10 minute walk carrying skis) but not easy at all to get back after 4pm without changing buses once or twice). It takes a while to figure out a fairly complicated bus timetable. Otherwise the Mayrhofen is very pretty, there is a lot to do and the nightlife is lively.

136 km of slopes await skiers and snowboarders on the slopes of Mayrhofen. Snow quality is extremely important in Mayrhofen, where 147 snow canons guarantee 100% snow coverage on the slopes.
From easy, medium to difficult - the choice of pistes is vast. The steepest piste is, without doubt, the black Harakiri" - Austria"s steepest groomed slope - with a gradient of up to 78%!
In addition to the extraordinary opportunities for freeriding on powder days both below and above the tree line, Mayrhofner has created the Vans Penken Park for snowboarders and freeskiers that completely outclasses all other funparks in Tirol with the quality and diversity of its jumps. A team of professional Funpark shapers guarantee constant optimum conditions with daily grooming. This is also the only park with its own 4 seater chair lift, which is perfectly designed to be just as long as the park itself. Expansion of the park and clear segregation into three levels of difficulty mean that pros as well as beginners will find their perfect line.
Mid-morning ski breaks are always welcome - enjoy a cup of coffee and a snack at one of the many Mountain Huts along the slopes.
