The French resort of La Rosière in unveiling a new ski area for December 2018; Mont Valaisan. The new area will offer more advanced, technical skiing, with five new red runs, and it will boost the resort’s highest elevation to 2,800m, giving La Rosière a more snow-sure top altitude. Two new six-seater lifts servicing the area will also provide much easier access to some incredible off-piste terrain. In total, the resort has invested €15 million into the project, which will no doubt increase La Rosière’s appeal to intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders.
The world-renowned brand La Folie Douce is opening their first flagship property in December 2018. La Folie Douce Hotel will sit in the heart of Chamonix, in an enviable ski-in ski-out location, with the Brévant ski area right on the doorstep. Featuring 250 rooms, the hotel will lend itself particularly well to groups, with rooms sleeping up to four people. In addition to the hotel’s three restaurants, there is a fabulous spa with an impressive outdoor swimming pool nestled in the shadow of Mont Blanc and yoga classes taking place out in the valley.

A very unusual accommodation is set to open in La Plagne this winter. For a romantic night with a difference, guests can sleep under the stars in – wait for it – their own private piste basher. Over the Moon is parked up at 2,400m, and it’s a piste basher like no other, with a queen-sized bed and panoramic windows overlooking the mountains and the starry night sky.
