Ski Solutions’ season

Another winter season is finally coming to an end and we’re going to have to hang up the ski boots for another summer. On the bright side, the Winter 18/19 season has been unbelievable; from heavy snowfalls to the opening of magnificent luxury hotels.

Our season stats

Our superb season

Our ski experts all have a passion for skiing and they have been making the most of the amazing snow right the way through the season; flying out to a plethora of resorts whenever they can. The snow this year has been incredible, and it has inspired our experts to take every chance they can get to travel to the mountains. Our ski experts are always travelling to see new developments in resorts so that they can help curate the most memorable ski holidays for you.

The Hotel Le Massif in Courmayeur

Hotel Le Massif

Our experts love visiting new places and returning to old favourites, but it’s even more exciting to return when they open new hotels; such as Hotel Le Massif in Courmayeur, which opened this season. The Hotel Le Massif is a five-star luxury that everyone must try and proved to be a favourite amongst our experts. Craig, our Managing Director, stayed there this winter:

A great day for skiing for Craig in Courmayeur

“Fantastic addition to the programme this winter, there are few better value five-star hotels in the Alps. Brilliant rooms, a delightful restaurant and a superb hotel bar with plentiful aperitivos and top notch service. I think it’s a really good bet for our clients, and location of the Lodge on the mountain for guests exclusive use really elevates it.”

Our ski experts have also travelled to two of our newer destinations, Paganella and 3 Zinnen. 3 Zinnen is a ski region which is home to beautiful mountain villages, such as Sexten and San Candido; there is also 100km of slopes surrounded by the delightful Dolomites.

Paganella ski resort equals 3 Zinnen in beauty; it faces the incredible Trentino Dolomites and overlooks the sparkling Lake Molveno. Nicola, one of our ski experts, visited Paganella this winter:

“Paganella is one of the prettiest ski resorts that I have been to. The slopes are lined with trees and you are constantly surrounded by spectacular jagged mountain peaks. The village itself is traditional, tranquil and perfect for those looking for a true Italian Alpine experience.”

Snow, snow and more snow

We have had a few incredible snowstorms over the course of the winter; in some resorts, they have brought over 20 feet of fresh snow in a week. Engelberg has had the snowiest mountain this year; accumulating a snow base of almost 8m for the second year running. Becky, part of our marketing team, was in Engelberg over the half-term holiday:

“I loved exploring Engelberg this season; we were spoilt with blue skies every day and couldn’t have asked for better snow over half-term. The slopes are exhilarating and covered with brilliant powder – the perfect playground for advanced skiers.”

Resorts in North America have also had a great season. Squaw Valley, Heavenly and Mammoth have all had snow depths of well over 5 metres; Mammoth, who claimed they were ‘Februburied’ this year, has also declared that will be staying opening until July because of all the fantastic snow they’ve been getting.

Great snow in Lech for Sophie

Snowy scenes in April

The season has been great for peak week skiers too. We always dream of having a bluebird week during the half-term or a huge dump of snow just before the Easter holidays; this year both of those prayers were answered. Sophie, one of our ski experts, was in Lech over the Easter holidays:

“April surprised us with huge amounts of fresh snow right across the Alps, just in time for our Easter ski holiday in Lech. We got to make the best of both blue sky weather and champagne powder.”
