Resort details

Andermatt

Andermatt has been a popular year-round holiday and wellness resort for the last 100 years, complete with a very friendly local population. In the summer months, the destination is a paradise for hikers, bikers, nature lovers and those seeking relaxation. Classic car enthusiasts can be seen on the weekends driving on the famous passes around Andermatt. From the summer of 2014, avid golfers will find an 18-hole golf course, designed by Kurt Rossknecht, just minutes from The Chedi Andermatt. Embedded perfectly into the high alpine landscape, this course will offer stunning views and the added value of high altitude, making golf balls fly further naturally.

The ski area of Andermatt links to Sedrun after six years of planning to redevelop the area, which began in 2015. This expansion has given Andermatt 120km sq of skiable terrain. As Andermatt has often been considered an area for more confident skiers, the link to Sedrun has vastly increased its popularity with less experienced skiers, as the skiing here is much gentler. It features many blue runs and is more suitable for family skiing. There is a six-seater chairlift that connects the two ski areas in both directions. In total, 14 new lifts have been created, including the conversion of seven existing runs which have been updated and modernised.

In winter, Andermatt becomes a snowy haven. It has two mountains around it which are used for ski slopes; Nätschen, which is on the north-east side of Andermatt, and Gemsstock, which is on the southern side of Andermatt. Andermatt's ski slopes are part of the Gotthard Oberalp Arena. Gemsstock Mountain welcomes all winter sports enthusiasts – from its Eldorado for free-riders to families enjoying the sunny slopes of Andermatt.
