Chalet Hotel Le Dome

Le Dome is a comfortable and excellent value Chalet Hotel, ideally located in the picturesque village of Tignes 1850. Access the skiing couldn’t be easier, as the main high-speed Boisses 8 person gondola takes you straight to a choice of chairlifts – one up to the Aiguille Percee and the other to the top of the Chaudannes slopes above Tignes le Lac. You can ski right back to the Chalet at the end of the day, and for access to the other villages of Le Lac and Val Claret, the free ski-bus runs until midnight. Le Dome’s en-suite bedrooms all have a cosy, traditional feel. Please note some do vary in size. The bar and lounge area have a log-burner and free WI-FI, making this the ideal place to relax, whether over afternoon tea or a nightcap at the end of the day.

Resort details

Ski holidays in Tignes offer lively atmosphere with world class snow-sure skiing on the doorstep.

Tignes was created before the French discovered the benefits of making purpose-built resorts look attractive, although it has to be said that  some attractive new buildings are being added. The renovated old village at the lowest point of the slopes is a favourite lunch spot and a friendly and nice place to stay.

Tignes lies at an altitude of 2,100m and the main settlement is at Tignes Le Lac, which also has a satellite suburb called Le Lavachet, but there is another satellite development along the road at Val Claret, at the foot of the lifts up to the Grande Motte. Getting between the various parts of Tignes is easy enough on skis during the day and Le Lac and Le Lavachet are within reasonable walking distance of each other. A shuttle bus service links Val Claret with the rest of Tignes. It runs frequently during the day, half-hourly after 8.30pm and hourly after midnight throughout the night.
