Bardonecchia is a charming traditional Italian ski resort, situated on the border between France and Italy. The resort offers fantastic skiing, boasting over 100 km of pistes in the area, connected by a free bus service. The resort is equipped with 38 km of snow cannons and the highest point of the resort is 2400 metres, where guests can impressively ski above the tree line.
The resort is best suited to beginner and intermediate skiers, offering many uncrowded blue and red runs. The resort does only contain five black runs, however the fantastic snow park which contains the 2006 Winter Olympic half pipe, 80 rails and jibs and more than 20 jumps, is a great place for talented skiers to test and refine their ability.
Off the piste, this hidden gem of a resort is fantastic. Bardonecchia contains many superb restaurants, considering its small size, serving delicious traditional Italian fayre. Après ski generally tends to be quieter than at other European resorts, with people tending to socialise in a relaxed environment. This resort should not be overlooked, despite its size Bardonecchia offers amazing skiing, great food and beautiful scenery.
