Ducs de Savoie

Offers available

The Ducs de Savoie is in the heart of Val d'isere, yet conveniently set back from the main busy thoroughfares. It nestles in a side street close to the pedestrianised area and affords easy access to the centre, the main ski-lifts, the children’s nursery ski area and all the resort facilities.

It's just a 350m stroll to the three main high-speed lifts. The Solaise Express goes straight up to Solaise at 2,560m and a choice of lifts and runs. Alternatively, choose the Bellevarde Express or the Olympique gondola to Bellevarde's long cruising runs and the connections to Tignes. The children's ski area and adult nursery slopes are in the same area as these lifts. The excellent free ski bus stops just 30m from the Ducs de Savoie, to take you to Le Fornet or La Daille for an alternative starting point.

The Chalet Hotel has a lounge and bar on the ground floor where the pre-dinner apéritifs are served, before guests move on to enjoy evening meals with complimentary wine and tea or coffee in the attractive dining-room. There is a warm and welcome atmostphere in the communal areas with comfortable furnishings and warm wooden decor.

There are a selection of rooms, from twins to triples, to larger family rooms and suitess. All bedrooms have an en suite bathroom and a flat screen TV (with some UK channels) and incorporated DVD.

Val d'Isère

Val d'Isère is probably the resort that has access to the best all-round ski area in the world, the Espace Killy With just over 100 lifts compared to the 300 to be found in the Trois Vallées, the Espace Killy is obviously not the largest ski area in the world, but size isn’t everything and this region has as much skiing as one could ever need, not to mention the longest winter in the Alps. (The winter ski season here begins in late November and continues until early May and the early- and late-season conditions are seldom disappointing.

The main centre of Val d'Isere has been virtually rebuilt over the past 25 years and many of the buildings are imaginative contemporary interpretations of the traditional stone and wood Savoyard style.

Val d'Isere ski holidays were revolutionised with the introduction of apres-ski in the 80s when Dick Yates-Smith set up the seminal bar-nightclub, known as Dicks Tea-Bar.
