Chalet Cerise

Chalet Cerise is a chalet apartment at the top of the resort of Val Thorens, offering excellent views across the valley. The décor is typically alpine in style with solid wood and rustic features. The chalet has a spacious and light open living/dining area with wood burning stove and satellite TV. All rooms enjoy the bonus of being en-suite, most with their own Jacuzzi bath. Guests staying in this chalet have use of an infinity pool with fabulous views over the Val Thorens Valley in addition to the gym facilities, sauna and steam room. There are also beauty and well-being treatments available and payable locally. All these facilities are located in the heart of the Balcons complex, close to the chalets.
Chalet Cerise is situated in the Balcons 5 building. This position offers excellent access to the skiing as it is just 25 metres (approx.) to the piste. The Plein Sud lift goes straight past the complex and competent skiers can enjoy the convenience of skiing practically to the door in good conditions. For beginners, the shuttle bus stops right outside reception for access to the other lifts. The shops, lively bars and restaurants of Val Thorens are just a short walk away. For guests’ convenience, there are two restaurants, a bar offering snacks, a ski hire shop and a mini market within the complex.

Val Thorens

Val Thorens takes the prize as the highest ski resort in Europe and as a result it often has the best snow of the Trois Vallees. The resort is at 2,300m and is one of the few stations that can almost definitely guarantee snow for both Christmas and Easter.

Architecturally the resort is better than many and there is a pleasant traffic free centre. The surrounding peaks make for a stunning skyline but in a blizzard the resort can be a little bleak, partly because it’s above the treeline. Many people prefer to stay in a lower resort and then ski the Val Thorens pistes although the resort itself has many attractions - not least you are able to bag the beautiful snow first in the mornings and the village has a lively nightlife. The skiing is suited to most standards with the more advanced really being able to push themselves over testing, exciting terrain and yet there are also the sweeping, gentle pistes which make Val Thorens ski holidays ideal for beginners and intermediates. For those who prefer to take their skiing at a slower pace, there is an abundance of mountain restaurants from where to enjoy the views.
