Snowboarding in Austria

The growth of snowboarding in Austria has been aided in no small part by the simple fact that it is, generally, more affordable than in France. The modern lifts and well thought-out pistes make for easy slope access, with the powder bowls, steep chutes and parks providing plenty of boarder-friendly excitement.

In addition to this, Snowboarding in Austria is accompanied by a much more intense après scene, which you'll found in many resorts.

Mayrhofen has reached legendary status for many boarders with its numerous competitions/festivals (Snowbombing, The Brits, etc.), well-design terrain parks and year-round riding up on the glacier. The only possible issue is with snow consistency, but the Austrians have honed their snow-making skills, making Mayrhofen always a great option for snowboarding in Austria.

Other great resorts worth mentioning when you’re considering snowboarding in Austria include St Anton (with lots of freeriding potential and natural features), Ischgl (home of some world-renowned après) and Saalbach (with extensive parks and tree runs).
