LIMITED CHOICE FOR A RESORT OF THIS SIZE AND INTERNATIONAL REPUTATION

With just a handful of hotels making up 10% of the visitor beds in Verbier, the resort is sadly lacking in choice, especially at the top end of the market. However the five-star Chalet d’Adrien beside the base of the Savoleyres telecabin is the pick of the hotels. This chalet-style property has stunning south-facing views across the valley and a lovely rustic ambience. There are some very attractive suites with their own fireplaces.

The Hotel Montpelier is the top four star recommendation, with a good reputation for its cuisine and an attractive swimming pool. The King’s Parc is a refurbished hotel with a young, designer feel and comprising 17 suites. There is a trendy piano-bar reception area as well as the King’s Restaurant, which serves French/Asian fusion food, and the King’s Bar. The Quatre Vallees is a bed and breakfast hotel in a great location between the main square and Medran. The old three-star Hotel Rhodania has been transformed into a four-star by the owners of the Kings Parc called Le Nevai (urban, minimalist decor - the top floor suites have their own hot-tubs on the balcony) whilst the Verbier Lodge is currently being transformed by Richard Branson for his Virgin hotel porfolio. It will have 9 rooms (plus a children's room) but is only available on an exclusive basis in winter.

Three-star guests are less well served, given the closure in recent years of both the Hotel de Veriber and Le Mazot. Younger skiers will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Hotel Farinet, with its lively après-ski terrace. Good value options are limited but we recommend the chalet-style Hotel Chamois.

Weekend options for Verbier are extremely limited as the local Hotel Association has taken a decision to accept weekend guests only in very low season such as early December or late April except if they have last-minute availability.
