Park City

Happy hours on the hill and after dark.

There's a rumour going round that ski resorts in Utah, a Morman state, are quiet and dry. If Park City's buzzing Main Street is anything to go by, that rumour is pure myth. Up the hill you'll find endless fun cruising along high ridges and dropping into plunging valleys. The three mountain lift pass means that if you're getting itchy skis, you can explore nearby resorts Deer Valley and The Canyons too.

On the mountain

Park City's ski area is a series of ridges with lots of short blacks, blues and greens tumbling down the sides into the valleys below, to meet longer trails that follow the valley line. Once youve taken two lifts up to Summit House youre ready to play, whatever your level. Those seeking the tough stuff can venture further up to the couloirs, cliffs and plunges in the cluster of bowls from Jupiter Peak downwards.

Off the mountain

Once a silver-mining town, Park City now spreads wide across the mountain, but its beautifully preserved centre, Main Street, is where you'll find galleries, shops and more restaurants than most other American ski destinations. Climbing up through the middle of the town, Main Street is the lively heart of Park City, snapping to attention around apres-ski time, with live music, dancing, and even home-brewed ale at the Wasatch Pub.
