Zermatt is the best ski resort we have visited, having previously skied in Austria, Canada and Australia. The skiing conditions were excellent, the slopes were well marked and prepared, the equipment that we rented was of a very high quality and the ability for a non skier in the party to purchase a very reasonably priced hiker's ticket afforded access to the mountains and the ability to meet skiers in the party for lunch at various locations. The only disappointing thing was not being able to book ski lessons which were all fully booked. However a two hour personal lesson with an excellent instructor was very beneficial.
The atmosphere in the town was buzzing (probably due to time of year i.e. New Year). Everyone we came into contact with was very helpful and friendly and there was no language barrier. The staff at Hotel Butterfly were all without exception very helpful, professional and friendly. We were made to feel like family and we were impressed with the number of other guests we met with at the hotel who were returning guests of many years but who had also stayed in more upmarket and expensive hotels but chose to return to Hotel Butterfly. There was also a nice mix of nationalities, as it seems a shame to visit a foreign country and be surrounded only by other English guests. We would highly recommend that Ski Solutions recommend Hotel Butterfly and Zermatt as a great destination to its customers. As a matter of interest, as Australian travellers we did not find the resort to be expensive in terms of dining out or ski or equipment hire etc. Our thanks to Hugo for his excellent service and for arranging our holiday as such a last minute booking.
