    The Riffelalp Resort succeeds in being a luxury hotel which is relaxing and informal. It's really geared to skiing with comfortable ski-room and excellent, helpful service. The provision of a guide was an unexpected bonus -he was most patient and proved invaluable in poor weather. The pools and wellness area were wonderful after long days on the slope -swimming in the heated outdoor pool and taking in the glorious spectacle of the Matterhorn is a particular memory. The only problem staying in an upmarket hotel is that extras are pricey -especially tea!

In 2000, the renovation was completed by the Seiler family of the old Riffelalp Hotel, situated on a plateau high above Zermatt so enjoying a “ski in/ski out” location second to none. The original hotel opened in 1884 but was destroyed by fire in 1961. In 1988 the hotel reopened with just 40 beds to close again 10 years later for the current renovations to take place. The transformation is magnificent and offers a unique experience of five-star luxury in a superb setting. It is now a member of Leading Hotels of the World .

The brilliant ski in ski out Riffelalp hotel offers a variety of on-site entertainment facilities including a home cinema, bowling alley and spa.
