The Hotel Central was very handily situated near to the free ski buses which take you straight to the lifts and close to the restaurants in the evening. The pistes were not varied enough for our party as we had a mix of abilities and we found the colour coding crazy. There are not really enough different runs for a whole week, but great for a long ski weekend. We loved the winter hiking routes so we could all meet up for lunch even when we couldn't ski together. We found Engelberg a bit subdued in the evenings and couldn't find anything open past 11pm on the night we arrived (or pretty much any night) but there is a great bar with a fire pit at the bottom of the mountain to relax after a hard days skiing! We are glad we tried Engelberg.
