In 1947 in the early days of Val d'Isere, Jean Sanchez arrived and soon after created the Hotel Brussel's from the small slopeside chalet with one of the best positions in the village for both skiing and nightlife. His daughter, Isabelle, carries on the tradition and has recently renovated and upgraded the hotel which has just attained a fourth star. The hotel is a popular apres-ski spot - as well as being a great lunch spot on a sunny day - and the lounge has also been refurbished and has an attractive stone fireplace and cosy alcoves.
